    Morning guys,

Anyone fished Willows lakes in St Albans??

Got a match there Sunday and never heard of it!

Any tips for an approach would be most grateful as not going to get a chance to have a practise...

Don't think your typical match fishing venue from what I have seen on line....

    Thanks all

    I agree with the above.
Fished it last Sunday, peg 21and second with 68lb.Peg 1 won it with 74lb.I caught on the pellet waggler at various depths up to 5 foot. The blossom on the area we were in on the surface was a nightmare and it was constantly clogging the rod rings up?.I fished 6ml pellet on the hook and as feed.Loads of fish swimming about in small groups and I think they may have been getting ready to spawn. No bites on my 2 pole lines,as the water is gin clear and not sure the fish felt happy there due to the clear water. Not sure how peg 1 fished it,but big Ron had over 30lb of bream on peg 19.

People fish the slow sinker? there and I wasted nearly 2 hours on the method (long and short)at the start. As it's a old gravel pit some of the pegs do not have margins to speak of.Josh was on the other bank, not in our club match and he had some fish mugging using corn on the hook.We fished the roadside bank. The guy to my right on 23 had 50lb plus on the slow sinking waggler.

I've seen how josh fishes the slow sinker he has four rods see up with large bubble floats to sink at different rates . He fills his floats with glycerin not water sometimes they want a slow sinking bait other times they want it bombing through

its a very deep lake, spoke to a chap who does quite well there, and he told me he has blanked there on a few occasions, puts it down to the fish kill they had a while back, they lost a lot of fish apparantly, i am not sure of these facts but just information he passed on, he used to go there most weeks, but has stopped going.
