As per Rob's request here's how I got on at How End today in the penultimate silvers league match of the year.

My return scaled 10lbs 8ozs. from peg 19 for the predicted last place once more. I sat with the wind and rain in my face unable to loose feed effectively by hand, potting every put in kept small skimmers and roach going in the net. A trio of crucians and a couple of better skimmers went in one net while over 5lbs of 'peados' graced the other.
Match winner, Tony Taylor (Rive How End) weighed in 24lbs 8ozs. at peg 6 - worm & pinkie laden ground bait rewarded Tony with roach (up to 1-2), perch, tench & skimmers.
Paul Abbott (Browning) to the left of the winner, peg 4, landed 21lbs of mostly small fish the result of heavily fed maggot, using lines fished long and short.
In third place at peg 2 was Steve Davies who had 20lbs 9ozs. of worm tempted skimmers from a long line and roach from pinkies fished at 4 metres.

I had a trip to middle lake at Gold Valley on Saturday.
Not been here for ages and first time since they stocked it.
Drew peg 94. The wind was blowing across the lake into my face and there was heavy rain at the start.
Managed to catch a dozen f1s for 12lb and nowhere in the match.
Had fish in front of me but they weren’t interested in my bait.

Apparently the weights were down on recent matches.
Would go back if I get the chance.

I went to stanbridge view. Night before match told the match was being done on points based on silvers and carp weight. That is if you had highest carp weight that would be 15 points and last in silvers 1 point. Not very happy about late change but too late to book else where. Drew nice carp peg with an island at 13 metres. Had about 30lb carp on expanders but knew I needed some silvers so started feeding 2 lines half way to the island. One with ground bait and maggots and one with micros. Ground bait line produced 1 carp. Micro line I caught a crucial a smal tench and 2 bream for 6lb. Overall I was third. Catching those silvers was much harder than carp.

My prediction for Saturday was correct. Drew peg 24 on Bradshaws lake 8. Not a bad draw for a competent angler. Different story when it's me.

I decided to fish two lines short at 6m, two margin lines at the bottom of the shelf and one long at 13m. Decided that it would be prudent not to feed too much so just potted half a dozen maggot and a few micros, starting at 6m with double red on the hook. It was slow and after half an hour and rotating swims I had a grand total of 4 Gudgeon.

After 5 damp hours, during which my 5&6 sections became jammed together I managed a grand total of 8 F1s and some bits for 13lbs. Nowhere and Mightymaggot took a quid off me:(

I realise now that I fed nowhere near enough as the framers all fed substantially more than I. You live and learn!
