many thanks to bryan BGT, for taking over and running this match. special mention to pikes who single handed helped everyone down the slope at the end of the match and to les H for helping me up.
poor day weather wise ( par for the 2018 course) many thanks to merce and daddy may for the evening entertainment, to jim manc for the pies and puddings, most of all for all the support from the members , good to see so many friends again.

Shame about the weather and water conditions, but enjoyable none the same, those roach are a pleasure to catch and in fantastic condition, thanks to everybody who organised. Thanks Herbie for the loan of your cap, and i dont want to draw next to Les again as he always seems to get the better fish lol.
would be good to have another match there when the water levels are lower.

Thanks for yet another good roach match Brian and Herbs. Not forgetting pikey who's backside saved me from certain calamity on the slope down at the end...

Wish I lived closer, I'd be there every day!

Thanks for organising Brian. Great to see every one.

Seemed to fish consistently all along, with no real flyer pegs :D

That was a shocking act Herbie, paying a well earned £1 to our leader in shrapnel, gone down in my estimations

    Enjoyed your blog Lewy, thanks.

My day's fishing was all pole & a 1 gram rig fished no further than 10 metres out where it was nearly 3 metres deep. I fed via a pot, small balls of over wetted ground bait loaded with dead maggot. Waited 45 mins for my first bite then found that a couple of bites would follow each feed - heavier feeding resulted in much slower action. I looked at a closer line (7 mtrs out) but only small roach came from there so it was a waiting game for those 8oz red fins. The tow was a factor for much of the match but bites came while it was moving right to left.

Very pleased that I made the effort to go despite the Shingles in the groin area..
The pole was a no-no for me and it was too deep for the waggler, so it was a enjoyable day on the plastic pig.
Managed 7 lb 14oz and a pound plus roach made it well worthwhile.
Nice to see all my Cock-n-Knee mates and Wiltshire Wimps..And Rik who helped me with my spare roast beef barm cake....We must make the effort to do this again in September when its a bit lower.
I couldnt work out why I had not seen Pete Merce all day...Until Col told me he was in Turkey or somewhere...MMMMmmm. Altzimers.
Going home was a bind, had to drive in my socks as I had put some new mats in the Volvo and put my slippers next to the door while getting sorted. I left them there..bugger.. only had em 18 years. Roll on Summer...
Oh... Many thanks to Brian for doing the draw and Hathers for the prelims and booking the match.
Herbie did George again off the next peg...becoming a common occurance this...

Thanks to the organisers, well done to the framers. I fished for 50lb ended up with 5, tad too much feed methinks, live and learn.
Need to thank Merce for the lift and Herbs for the room, food and trip round the country lanes.

Thanks to the organisers struggled all day. No fish on pole, one chewed mag and didn't see bite. Only hooked 13 on wag all day losing one of those with an ambitious swing!

Worst days fishing had there. Journey home 2 hrs for us as we left m40 at west wycombe fir a40 and rejoined at wycombe

Always nice to take another pound off Lewy and beat George off the next peg for the second year running. Previously like Steve said you needed to pile the feed in to keep them coming but it didn’t work this time. Bigger fish definitely further out and not a bite on caster, a strange days fishing.
Nice to get back into the swing with MFS and see the old faces and have the banter. Thanks to Brian for sorting and Pikey and Rick for helping everyone down angina hill with their gear.
